The Loss series was begun several years ago after a dear friend miscarried.  As I saw how devastating such a loss can be, I was moved to create a half life size sculpture which might capture her grief in an effort to “mourn with those who mourn” (Romans 12:15). Recently i came back to the subject, but this time from the perspective of the father.  I decided to finish and cast what began as a small-scale clay sketch. I got a lot of interest in the original Loss after it was featured in an article in World Magazine, so I sculpted a smaller version in order to make it more affordable and as a companion piece with the male sculpture.  These small sculptures are now available to order in bronze or resin.

It is my hope that as a visual articulation of grief these sculptures will be a comfort to any who have suffered a great loss.
